A new life awaits for Gareth Bale now he has hung up his boots. Far away from the football pitch, the five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid announced on social media that he will be making his professional golf debut at the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament.
Jon Rahm, who recently won the American Express and equalled Seve Ballesteros with nine PGA Tour titles, gave an interview and revealed what he said to the Cardiff man before the Farmers Insurance Open.
"I said to Bale 'You can't be as good at professional football and golf at the same time, it's not fair'. You can't do just one thing and be so talented at golf. It's not fair at all", he said while laughing.
He then added: "He's looking into retiring soon and you can certainly say he loves this sport, he loves golf and he really wants to get into playing a bit more, so I hope in the future we see him more in the Pro-Am".
"Bale hasn't asked me for anything, nor should he, he's already good enough. As I said, being a professional footballer has got nothing to do with being so good. He's already good enough", he said.
