'I showed up with a fur coat' - Antonio Cassano recalls Real Madrid unveiling

Antonio Cassano has never left anyone indifferent. With his rebellious attitude and style of play, the Italian recalled his time at Real Madrid and how he came to the Spanish capital.
A highly talented player, he developed his football skills in Italy, with the exception of his time at Real Madrid, where he is better remembered for his life off the pitch than for what he did on it.
Cassano spoke on the ‘Viva el Fútbol’ podcast about his arrival at the Spanish team, especially Emilio Butragueno's reaction when he welcomed him to Madrid.
“The ‘Buitre’ was great. Polite, very shy, quiet. Always reserved. I remember I arrived wearing a fur coat. My God... And he said to me, ‘Please wear a suit tomorrow.’ I told him not to worry, but then I thought that these people signed me knowing I was crazy. So I showed up wearing that fur coat,” he said on the podcast.
He recalled in detail what happened: “They introduced me to Di Stefano, another legend. And I remember Butragueno looking at me, petrified. I think inside, ‘El Buitre’ thought I was an assh***, an idiot, and wondered why the hell they had signed me. Today I agree with him, I agree with him.”
