"I proposed to be Man Utd's president, but they rejected it"

Eric Cantona has always made his mark wherever he has played. During his time as a player, he stood out for his brilliant play and certain extra-sporting actions. He was also known for his comments before and after he became a player.
In an interview for 'The Athletic', the former Manchester United man revealed that he tried to take on a new role on the club's board. The Frenchman proposed splitting the figure of president in two. One would be the authoritative voice on football and the other on the economic and financial affairs of the club.
Cantona proposed himself as the club's chief. However, the club's executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, dismissed the proposal made to him by the club legend. His plan was no joke, as he had the backing of Sir Alex Ferguson.
"Woodward is very good at marketing, but not at football. I think he has one chairman and he should have one for administration/marketing and then one for football, who is in charge of all the decisions in football, so that's why I ran for the job," said the retired footballer.
