France international Aurelien Tchouameni highlighted Madrid's reaction when they were pegged back at the Allianz Arena by Bayern Munich, and stressed after the 2-2 draw in the first leg of the semi-final that they will play at the Santiago Bernabeu "to win and play in the final" of the Champions League.
"We wanted to win, but in the end we drew 2-2 and the most important thing is to play at the Bernabeu with our fans. We know we can win at home. We are going to prepare for the next game to try to win the Champions League," said the Frenchman.
"We started the second half very well, but we conceded two goals. We have to do better, but we fought until the end to score the second goal. We are in a good situation and we will play at the Bernabeu to win and play in the final," he added on “Movistar Liga de Campeones”.
Tchoaumeni acknowledged that Kroos and Vinicius, who scored both goals, are "key players" for Madrid, but extended credit to the whole team. "We have an incredible squad. We know we are the best team in the world."
The Frenchman shone as a midfielder and finished the game by switching back to centre-back. "For me, the most important thing is to help the team. I prefer to play in midfield, but when I have to play in defence I give my all as always. I have to continue like that", he said.
