As Koeman is staying, two footballers were strongly linked with Barca. Both requests came from a coach who seemed to be more out than in the Camp Nou.
Both Depay and Wijnaldum were requested by the Dutchman and the club were in favour of them due to the fact they are cheap. They would join for free from Lyon and Liverpool respectively.
Now, when the Liverpool man seemed close to joining Barcelona, PSG appeared on the scene to ruin Barca's plans. The Parisians, making use of their financial power, gave the midfielder a much better offer.
That made the Catalans try and up their offer for Wijnaldum, but they cannot match PSG's offer due to their difficult financial situation.
As usual during the transfer window, the situation has changed drastically again. 'Mundo Deportivo', on its front page this Sunday, said that Barca have given up on Wijnaldum and they will not up their bid.
On the other hand, the French giants will seemingly stick to the terms agreed and they are the big favourites to get hold of the footballer.
