Hearing over Man City's 115 charges will start on Monday

The long-awaited hearing into Manchester City's 115 charges over financial impropriety of Premier League and UEFA rules will take place on Monday, as per 'Sky Sports News'. The club has been charged with breaches of financial rules over a nine-year period, spanning from 2009 until 2018. 

According to the Premier League, Man City have allegedly failed to provide accurate information regarding their spending since 2009. One of the many charges, states that the club hid information regarding the financial remunerations that were made to one of their managers across four years, indicating that said manager was earning more than City officially disclosed. As well as the Premier League's rules, Manchester City have also been accused of not complying with UEFA's financial fairplay rules over a five-year period.

Due to the volume of charges and the amount of information to be reviewed, the formal hearing is set to last for around ten weeks. Therefore, it could be March - or even later - before the comission's decision is revealed to the public. That said, should the Cityzens even be found guilty, it is extremely like that the club appeals the decision, thus extending the time period of the hearing and delaying any possible punishment imposed on them.

The most severe sanction Manchester City could face if found guilty is relegation from the Premier League, though points deductions and a fine are also possible. Pep Guardiola’s side have always denied any wrongdoing. The club's reaction when charges were first announced in February 2023 reads the following: "Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with".
