"He wants to have control over what he earns" - Mbappe's lawyer

Kylian Mbappe has been in the news recently and strangely it has not been about his future with Real Madrid. The PSG forward has refused to comply with certain national team sponsorship agreements. This has caused tension amongst the French Football Federation.
This Monday, his lawyer explained the situation in an interview for 'L'Equipe'. Delphine Verheyden critiqued the abusive contracts that the French players have to sign in order to play for the national team.
"When a player is selected for the first time, one of the first things they have to do is sign a document which hands over their rights and obligations to the France team. This document comes into effect from the moment it is signed and expires five years after they finish their professional careers", explained the lawyer.
For Verheyden, "it's unrealistic to take on such a long committment": "That's the first thing we have trouble understanding. Therefore, in Kylian's case, he would be bound to this from his 18th birthday until approximately his 40th".
Mbappe's lawyer clarified her client's stance in terms of certain sponsorship obligations: "On official shirts who has the rights? The FFF, the kit sponsor (Nike) and the player. If we put the player's name on the shirt, they should be compensated. Moreover, every one of them should be able to decide whether they keep the money or if they donate it to amateur football. This is where Mbappe wants to have of control over what he earns".
