The Belgian winger assisted Alvaro Morata's second-half equaliser before substitute Michy Batshuayi scored the winner in the last kick of the game to secure all three points for Chelsea in the Group C clash.
Antonio Conte's side ended Atletico's 11-match unbeaten home run in Europe, with a great performance which was one of Eden Hazard's most memorable Chelsea victories.
"Yes, in the Champions League also. Since I came here it's the first time we've beaten a really good, really strong team in the Champions League," Hazard told Chelsea TV.
"We did well, from the first [whistle] to the end of the game. That means we are a good team, we have good players."
Hazard was making just his second start of the season after returning from a broken ankle and hit the post at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in the first half.
Antoine Griezmann had given the home side the lead from the penalty spot after 40 minutes but former Real Madrid man Morata headed home form Hazard's floated cross to level the match just before the hour mark.
Batshuayi replaced Morata for the final eight minutes and provided the dramatic winner in the closing seconds, and Hazard was keen to praise both his attacking team-mates.
"That's why they're on the pitch, to try to score goals. And we are here to create something," added the 26-year-old.
"We should've scored more goals than two. Sometimes it's good to win at the last second."
