Gomez took his levels of craftiness to new heights on Saturday when he pulled the wool over Spalletti's eye during their Serie A encounter at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri.
Miranda, who had successfully kept Gomez and his fellow Atalanta forwards at bay all game, stopped playing, holding his right leg after picking up a knock.
His opposing number, seizing an opportunity, turned to the Inter dugout signalling that the defender would need to be substituted.
Spalletti bought it and started preparing Andrea Ranocchia to go on as Miranda's replacement before realising he had been the victim of a prank, throwing his arms in the air in disbelief.
Gomez, however, found the funny side of it all and was pictured giggling away to himself while the game continued. The match would end goalless.
