Atletico Madrid versus Chelsea saw the English side show more attacking intent, but it looked like the game was going to end 0-0. Giroud had other ideas though. He scored with an overhead kick which brought back memories of Cristiano Ronaldo's against Juventus in 2018.
A cross from the left hand side saw Mario Hermoso miscue his clearance and it ended up being the perfect assist for the French forward.
Olivier Giroud did not hesitate and, despite having his back to goal, he beat Jan Oblak with a superb overhead kick.
After a VAR check which lasted several minutes, to see whether Hermoso or Mount had played the ball through to Giroud, VAR Marco Fritz told referee Felix Brych that it was Hermoso who touched it. That has left Simeone's men in trouble for the second leg.
