Gica Hagi surprised everyone on Sunday 2nd August by announcing his resignation from Viitorul Constanta with one matchday left until the end of the competition.
The ex-player Rubén de la Barrera, still 35 years old, has been the one chosen one to replace him. The Galician has now signed his contract and was presented to embark on another somewhat exotic adventure.
De la Barrera already managed Al-Ahli in Doha. He also had spells on the bench at Guijuelo, Valladolid Promesas and Cultural Leonesa.
Popescu was delighted to start a new cycle with him after a very weird situation with Gica Hagi, who as well as his friend since their time playing is also his brother-in-law.
