For him and for Parejo who both play for Valencia, the encounter is not just another game. It is a bit more special than that. And that was spoken about obviously. The other international, Juan Bernat, also talked about this as an ex-Valencia player.
"Lately there are left-backs of the same type. We like to attack. That speaks well of the Valencia academy. The academy does a lot for a club and that is important," Gaya commented.
But he also talked about other issues concerning 'La Roja'. For example, the fact that the players have to get the fans interested from the first qualifying game.
"This is the beginning, it's the first game of the qualification phase, there's a lot at stake and we have to make everyone happy. That is what we are going to try and do. Have a great game with a defined style. That is what we are working for and that is what we are going to see. A team which is decisive and has a clear idea of what it is going to do", he assured.
Regarding the option of playing as a winger, he said he did not feel overwhelmed by that prospect. "I like playing as a winger. I have done it in a line of four players, but I would love to play there. I'm delighted to do whatever is needed to help the team," insisted Gaya.
Lastly, he spoke about the errors which needed correcting. "The set of players in each position have been given a chat individually to correct errors and to reinforce the things which we are doing well."
