From playing for Liverpool, Arsenal and in La Liga... to seventh division!

Football can do that to you. One minute you are playing a Champions League final, and the next you're signing a contract with a seventh-tier Isthmian Premier League outfit.

He was signed by Arsenal at the age of 15 for a then-record fee for a trainee of £2 million, and remained with the Gunners for seven years, admittedly not making many starts under Arsene Wenger.

After making his Premier League debut for Arsenal in 2003, Jermaine Pennant became part of the Liverpool team defeated in the 2007 Champions League final by Kaka's AC Milan, with Pennant playing the entire game on the wing for the Reds.

He also made 25 La Liga appearances for Real Zaragoza after signing in 2009, but since then things have taken a slight dip.

After spells with Stoke, Wolves or Wigan, Pennant ended up at League One side Bury, following some time in India and Singapore.

However, after a disappointing season for Bury in which he only featured seven times, the now 34-year-old midfielder has agreed a two-year contract with seventh-tier Billericay Town.

Quite a turn of events, from that Champions League final in Athens just over a decade ago, to playing semi-professional football in Essex.
