Portugal coach Fernando Santos admitted this Saturday that France are a very capable team, but he made clear that if they manage to play at their best on Sunday, they will be difficult to beat.
"We're facing a very powerful opponent, but we have our weapons," the Portuguese coach said in the pre-match press conference prior to the Nations League matchday three clash at the Stade de France.
"The most important thing is to not lose confidence. It's important to be at our best level. If we are, we'll be difficult to beat," he added.
Santos stressed that one thing is admitting that the French national team is one of the best in the world and another thing is go out as if they have already lost.
"My team will try and show on the field of play what we've practised in the last few matches," the coach added. After the friendly with Spain which ended goalless, Santos admitted that they gave Spain lots of space.
Santos was accompanied by defender Pepe who was confident of getting a good result. "We'll step up to the mark and we want to have a good game to honour Portugal," the player highlighted. He confessed that he always feels "butterflies in his stomach" when he goes onto the pitch to represent his national team.
