Real Madrid, Milan, Boca Juniors, River Plate, América (Mexico), Auckland (New Zealand), Guangzhou Evergrande (China) and TP Mazembe (DR Congo) formed part of the first meeting of the World Football Club Association.
It is an organisation validated by FIFA which will be in charge of organising the new Club World Cup. All of them have decided that Florentino Perez, the Real Madrid president, will preside the association.
"I'm delighted that clubs from all over the world were present and have agreed to create the World Football Club Association. This new association will be credible and serious and will discuss all the aspects related to the clubs, starting with the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021, Florentino Perez began.
"This tournament must be a competition which impulses the development of club football all over the world and this is what all the clubs present want to achieve together with FIFA. We are really looking forward to maintaining an excellent co-operation with FIFA to take club football to the next level," Perez concluded.
