England V Germany - Preview and possible line-ups

England: Boss Gareth Southgate is expected to hand England debuts to Swansea striker Tammy Abraham, Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Crystal Palce midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek after a raft of withdrawals stripped his squad to the barebones. Stoke's Jack Butland was set to start the game before he suffered a broken finger in training, joining Dele Alli (hamstring), Harry Kane (knee), Harry Winks (ankle), Jordan Henderson (thigh), Fabian Delph (calf) and Raheem Sterling (back) on the sidelines. Burnley midfielder Jack Cork could make his international debut from the bench after receiving a late call-up. Spurs man Eric Dier will become Gareth Southgate's sixth England captain.
Germany: Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos and PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp are expected to sit out the game due to illness, whilst Amin Younes (knee), Marco Reus (knee), Thomas Muller (hamstring), Manuel Neuer (foot), Leon Goretzka (stress fracture) and Jerome Boateng (muscle) were all not fit enough for a place in the squad. Joachim Low is expected to experiment somewhat with RB Leipzig defender Marcel Halstenberg set for his debut. Ilkay Gundogay and Mario Gotze could also start as they return from long injury lay-offs, whilst Sandro Wagner could be given the chance to stake a claim up front.
Did you know? England haven't beaten Germany on home turf since 1975, when goals from Colin Bell and Malcolm MacDonald sealed a 2-0 win for Don Revie's Three Lions.
Possible line-ups:
England: Pickford, Trippier, Maguire, Stones, Jones, Rose, Dier, Livermore, Loftus-Cheek, Abraham, Vardy.
Germany: Ter Stegen, Kimmich, Sule, Hummels, Halstenberg, Rudy, Gundogan, Sane, Gotze, Draxler, Wagner.
