The RB Leipzig who kept Atletico Madrid at bay were nowhere to be seen in the first half. They made plenty of errors maybe because they were overawed by the occasion and they were punished. The second of those was a major psychological blow in the 42nd minute.
Angel di Maria was the man who made it 0-2 and put PSG much closer to the big final in Lisbon.
It all began with a mistake from Gulacsi when trying to play the ball out from the back. He gave it straight to Paredes, who quickly put the ball back into the area, Neymar laid the ball off with his heal to Di Maria who controlled before beating the RB Leipzig keeper.
Before that and after the 0-1 goal which Marquinhos had scored, several lapses in concentration could have cost them dearly. Although the goal came just before half-time, just before Nagelsmann had time to reorganise his team.
It was a great first half for Di Maria, one of the new players in the starting XI. He justified Tuchel's decision by scoring a goal and getting an assist.
