Delaney unmarked from the corner to head Denmark 0-1 up

The first goal of the Euro 2020 quarter-final clash came in controversial fashion and thanks to a defensive error. Delaney found himself completely unmarked in the box from a corner that, in reality, wasn't one. His opponents were passive in their defending, as he used his neck muscles to fire the a powerful header into the back of the net.
The action was born out of a mistake from the linesman. He gave a corner when he should have flagged for a goal kick, as the ball clearly deflected out of play off Dolberg. In any case, the ball was whipped in from the corner spot and the number 8 headed home to make the scoreline 0-1.
Questions will be raised about the amount of space he enjoyed in the opposition box. The good movement from himself and his teammates to confuse the defenders worked brilliantly. They were unable to find a way to correct themselves and had already moved too far out of position from where Stryger eventually put his cross.
The goal continued the impressive run of a Denmark team who have won the hearts of many since the events of Christian Eriksen on their opening day. They look to be the genuine dark horse of the competition.
