Davide Ancelotti set to become new head coach at Botafogo

Botafogo have reached an agreement with Italian Davide Ancelotti to take over as coach of the Brazilian club, according to 'GloboEsporte' on Sunday.
Ancelotti will thus take up his first coaching job and leave his newly created position as assistant coach of the Brazilian national team, which he took up a month ago as a member of the technical staff headed by his father, Carlo Ancelotti.
The 35-year-old replaces Renato Paiva at Botafogo, who was sacked after the team's elimination from the last 16 of the Club World Cup in the United States.
The son of Carlo Ancelotti began his career as an assistant in 2015 and has had spells at Napoli, Everton, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Davide joined the Brazilian national team at the beginning of June after negotiations he had begun with Rangers to take over as manager of that team failed to progress.
At Botafogo, he will have the challenge of getting the team back on track in the Brazilian league, where they are in eighth place after matchday 11, and to continue progressing in the Copa Libertadores.
In the continental competition, Botafogo qualified for the last 16 as runners-up in Group A and will face Liga de Quito at this stage.
The Rio club, owned by US tycoon John Textor, had their best year ever in 2024, with a Copa Libertadores and Brasileirao double.
