'Creed was my first impression of Goodison Park' - Klopp expecting Rocky reception

The Liverpool manager has admitted his first encounter with Everton's home ground was while he was watching the latest Rocky movie.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says that the movie Creed was his 'first impression of Goodison Park.'

The Reds take on local rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby on Monday, with Klopp taking his players to a stadium that he first saw on the big screen.

Some crowd shots for the film were filmed at Goodison Park in early 2015, with fan reaction during Everton's clash with West Brom being used in the finished movie.

Klopp claims that the latest film in the Rocky franchise was where he first saw Goodison Park, but admitted he will not be using any quotes from the film as motivation for Liverpool's players ahead of Monday's big game.

"I watched the movie Creed – my first impression of Goodison Park," the Liverpool manager told reporters.

"I once used Rocky 4 in one of my team talks but stopped when I realised that hardly anyone in the room had watched it!

"Yesterday I had the honour to be part of the Xmas party for the Chapel St staff. Afterwards I watched Creed".

The former Borussia Dortmund manager hopes that his players' performance can silence the home crowd at Goodison, stating the importance of beating their city rivals.

"It’s very, very, very, very big. Everyone knows about the derby. It’s pretty special," Klopp continued.

"It will be a real battle between two good teams. Motivation will be clear. We will fill each space they give us in the stand.

"It’s our job to keep the home fans quiet".
