Things can change in a matter of seconds in football. Things changed for the better for Liverpool at Anfield this Saturday and for the worse for Chelsea.
It all happened in first half added time. The referee added three minutes and few could imagine what was to come at Anfield. The Blues were winning 0-1 thanks to a goal from Havertz, but their smile was wiped off their faces before the break.
A ball into the area ended up with Matip's shot hitting the crossbar after indecision between Mendy and Marcos Alonso. The rebound ended up in the six yard box, near the goal where Diogo Jota was ready to score.
His shot brushed an opponent and went towards goal where James saved on the line. However, the full-back did so with his arm after the ball struck his thigh. Liverpool protested and the ref went to the screen.
Anthony Taylor spent little time at the monitor and he sent off James as well as giving the penalty. Salah made no mistake and it was 1-1 at half-time. There were no further goals in the second half and the points were shared.
