Courtois, Lunin miss Madrid training session ahead of Valencia clash

Real Madrid returned to training on Thursday after a day's rest following their extra-time Copa del Rey semifinal win over Real Sociedad to prepare for a match against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday (16:15 CEST, -2 GMT) for which goalkeepers Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin are doubts.
Both are suffering from muscular discomfort that made them work in the gym and with the club's physiotherapists on Thursday, but, as ‘EFE’ was able to learn from club sources, neither is ruled out yet for the match against Valencia. This is a decision that the technical and medical staff want to wait for, as they are the two goalkeepers with a first team roster.
In case they do not recover, the alternative would be to choose the reserve team goalkeeper Fran Gonzalez, who has been a regular this season in the first team's call-ups.
A session in which the long-term injured players Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal did not attend; Dani Ceballos, due to a muscle injury in the back of the thigh, and Ferland Mendy due to a muscle injury in his left leg.
The two, as revealed by Carlo Ancelotti at a press conference, have the most optimistic goal of being available for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal, which takes place on Tuesday, April 8th in London.
Ancelotti led the training session after learning on Thursday that the prosecutor has maintained in the trial held at the Madrid Provincial Court his request for four years and nine months in prison for the coach of Real Madrid Football Club, Carlo Ancelotti, for defrauding just over one million euros to the Treasury.
