Claude Makelele has revealed what he said to Brazil legend, Ronaldinho during the battles in the Champions League between 2005 and 2007. Chelsea and Barcelona were drawn against each other 3 times (meaning they played 6 matches) in the 2 year period, and Makelele had some things to say the Brazilian, who at the time was arguably the best in the world.
Makelele, who was at Chelsea from 2003-2008, said to Ronaldinho, the Brazilian superstar, 'I would rather you come at me and dribble past me properly. 'But with all your PlayStation tricks, I’m going to put you in hospital! What did he do? He gave me the ball and apologised.'
Makelele compared Ronaldinho to French World Cup winner, Zinedine Zidane, but said of his former Real teammate that he was an artist, and that Ronaldinho's trickery was often not needed. 'Zidane was an artist, but every move he made was to add something to the attack or to advance' he added.
Makelele won the Premier League twice at Chelsea as well as a League Cup, but was never able to win the Champions League, reaching the final in 2008.
