Antonio Conte's future at Chelsea looks to be finished come the end of the season, as the 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Sunday cancelled out his team's impressive performance in the first leg against Barcelona.
It seems as if the board will wait until the last game has been played before changing personnel at the helm quickly, with Luis Enrique the obvious replacement.
However, as reported in England on Wednesday, there has been a sticking point in negotiations between the club and manager, concerning his potential salary.
Whilst coaching Barcelona during that emphatic three-year period (2014-17), Enrique received €19million per year from the Catalan club whereas Chelsea are only allegedly willing to pay him €10.8million - Conte's starting salary - and could potentially increase it depending on the team's performances.
It's a difficult situation for the manager, having been out of work since leaving 'Los Cules', as he isn't short of offers from other clubs. Chelsea would undoubtedly provide the best platform though, but it will come down to what is more important to Enrique: a team and club he can actually build, or the money.
