Chelsea revive Barcelona's Jules Kounde interest

The West London side has been on the lookout for a high-calibre defender since Thiago Silva's departure last year, and Jules Kounde has once again emerged as a key target.
Chelsea had previously attempted to sign the Frenchman from Sevilla in 2022, but Barcelona ultimately swooped in with a £42 million deal to secure his services.
According to Sport, the Blues are planning another move for him, who has impressed as both a centre-back and a right-back. His versatility makes him an ideal option for manager Enzo Maresca, who is seeking a defender capable of filling multiple roles.
Kounde had initially been set to play as a central defender under former Barcelona manager Xavi, but his exceptional performances at right-back led to a change in position. Under current boss Hansi Flick, the 26-year-old has continued to play in the right-back role, showcasing his quality as one of Europe's best in that position.
Despite being content in Catalonia and eager to sign a new contract with Barcelona, which runs until 2026, the Frenchman is aware that Chelsea could offer him a higher wage, especially amid Barcelona's ongoing financial challenges.
