Ex-Spain international, and current Al Sadd player Santi Cazorla visited the Spain camp at the University of Qatar to show his support to manager Luis Enrique and all the players, who he thinks are ready to win the World Cup, and it reminded him of the group which won the Euros in 2008, starting the best period in Spain's history after a generational replacement.
"Everything is great, not long ago I could partake myself in this type of tournament, and now I can support the side. We have great players and I'm convinced that everything's going to go well", he claimed.
Cazorla met up with teammates who he played with in the national side such as Sergio Busquets, Koke, and Jordi Alba, but was warm to all of the players and Luis Enrique, both from Asturia. The manager joined in hugging Cazorla's son and daughter who enjoyed the visit, and took pictures with their idols.
"It reminds me of our team in 2008 (when Spain became European champions with Luis Aragones), with very young players who were coming in, and a mix of experienced players which is very important. It 's also good we're not seen as favourites, like Brazil and Argentina, as it's in our favour to get a bit off pressure off", he said.
"We have a great manager who knows what he wants, the style of playing. I'm optimistic because I think we have a great squad. We competed really well in the Euros and I'll trust the side until I die", he added.
