Edinson Cavani is now free to sign for any team. After wearing the PSG shirt for seven seasons, the Uruguayan goalscorer said goodbye to the French side with 301 appearances and 200 goals to his belt.
Those numbers mean many clubs want him despite him being 33. The Uruguayan international is in great form so that will help find a new club for next season.
One of the teams who has most been linked with him in recent hours is Benfica although there have been rumours saying that the Portuguese side have now pulled out of the running for Cavani.
Despite that, rumours linking the Uruguayan with the Portuguese club continue and 'Ovacion' says now that Walter Guglielmone, Cavani's brother as well as his agent, have been in Lisbon since last Tuesday to negotiate the arrival of the striker for the team.
The Uruguayan media outlet says that Guglielmone talked to Tiago Pinto, the director general of football at Benfica. They started to agree parts of the deal regarding the Uruguayan striker.
Apparently, Guglielmone was apparently delighted by Benfica's facilities so he decided to ask for a three year contract for Cavani.
This request and the large amount of money Cavani wants are the main stumbling blocks to negotiations because the Portuguese club cannot afford something like that despite wanting the Uruguayan star.
