Capello was paid while destroying the future of English football

Newcastle, Shearer, Beckham... Michael Owen was comfortable after publishing his book 'Reboot'. The former player reviews complicated chapters of his sporting life and does not hold back when it comes to hitting out at former teammates, teams or coaches.
On this occasion, Owen talks about Fabio Capello, a coach whom he described as "garbage" and who thinks that the future of English football was loaded.
"He also ended my international career, but this is not the reason that I think he is garbage. Already on the first day, he met with the team and he didn't know any English. He was very strict with food and could hardly manage us", he recalls.
"I don't know what the FA were thinking to hire somebody who didn't know any English," he insisted.
Owen remembers with special bitterness a game, where, upon losing 1-0, Capello took him out to play 10-15 minutes. "Everyone was asking me why I hadn't started. I was pissed off and I didn't cut myself. I told them that he hadn't explained anything to me because he didn't know how to speak English," he continues.
"I feel a lot of resentment towards him. He had to change something in the English Selection and his decision was to leave Michael Owen out of the squad". added the former player before releasing his most serious attack on the coach. "He caused irreparable damage to my career and all of English football. And he was paid for it."
