De Ligt's arrival could make it easier for Bonucci to depart. The central defender has been a key part of the Juve defence in recent years, even after having left for AC Milan in summer 2017. His time there was brief and it lasted just one season.
That summer, City had already tried to sign the player, but he finally decided to join a project which was far from what Bonucci was promised. Now, Vincent Kompany's departure leaves a gap which Pep wants to cover with one of the most reliable central defenders on the continent.
City are not the only ones alert to Juventus' movements. PSG made contact with the defender in recent weeks although the race still remains open to sign Bonucci. Bonucci is also not ruling out the possibility of staying to try and fight for his place with De Ligt.
Last season, the Italian made 41 appearances for Juve (39 as a starter) and played over 3000 minutes. He even went up the field and scored three goals as well as giving two assists.
