Birmingham CEO resigns after protests and racist banner from fans

Xuandong Ren is no longer the CEO of Birmingham City. He handed in his resignation and the club announced the news in an official statement. It comes shortly after several protests by fans, the latest prior to their last Championship game of the season away to Blackburn Rovers to express their anger at Ren.
"Chief Executive Officer, Xuandong Ren, has resigned from his position at the Club with immediate effect. The Board would like to place on record their sincere thanks for his service and contribution. The Club will be making no further comment at this time," the club's website said. The news has been celebrated by their supporters.

Prior to the match with Blackburn, there were several banners put up around Blackburn and one of the banners was condemned by the club for being racist. It said "Som Ting Wong, it's called Dong" with Som Ting Wong being used instead of "Something wrong" to mock the Chinese's nationality.

On the field, Birmingham City avoided relegation just a few weeks after dismissing former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka. He was also the number two to Jose Mourinho when the Portuguese was the Real Madrid coach.
