Bellingham suspended for Real Sociedad finale after appeal fails

Bellingham was shown his fifth booking of the league campaign in the 66th minute of Sunday's 1-0 victory at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, following a foul on Juanlu Sanchez. Madrid lodged an appeal, hopeful of overturning the decision, but on Thursday confirmed that it had not been upheld.
As a result, the 20-year-old will be unavailable for Saturday's visit to the Reale Arena (16.15 CEST), a match which marks the end of Los Blancos' domestic campaign.
With no club commitments until 18 June—when Madrid begin their FIFA Club World Cup campaign against Al Hilal—Bellingham has remained at Valdebebas to follow a tailored recovery programme, rather than training on the pitch with the rest of the squad.
The midfielder could still be called up by England for their upcoming international fixtures - a World Cup qualifier against Andorra and a friendly against Senegal during the June international break.
