Bayern Munich's academy has been looking after Torben Rhein for years. The 18 year-old has a very bright future, has been a regular for Germany's U17s and is about to renew his contract.
According to 'Sport.de', the Bavarians will extend the midfielder's contract by another year. It was due to expire this summer. The club are not making longer term contracts than that at the moment due to the pandemic.
However, Bayern will give Rhein a massively improved deal and they are even thinking of including him in the first team next season. That despite him not even having made his B team debut.
'Bild' also says that the sporting director and his team have offered him a brilliant long term contract once this next extension expires.
Rhein has spent the last two seasons playing with the Under 19s for Bayern in the UEFA Youth League. He is 1.73 metres tall and capable of using both feet. The club see him as a future replacement for the recently departed Thiago Alcantara.
