Barcelona want Super Cup and prize money to reduce Champions League losses

Barcelona are prepared to try and win their first trophy of the season. And the Catalans will face arch-rivals Real Madrid this Sunday, who they will try and beat in order to win their first Super Cup since the change of format. 

The Catalans need the win both on the pitch and in terms of finances. In relation to the latter, the club now know what they wil earn if they become runners-up (two million euros). If they win the final, it will be double that. 

It cannot be forgotten that the club had planned to receive eight million euros from participating in the Super Cup. However, their early elimination means they will not earn that so the Super Cup money will help towards that. 

Joan Laporta told radio station 'SER' that La Liga told Barca they have 26 million euros in losses after their Champions League elimination. There is a lot at stake for Barca and they know that any extra income is welcome.
