Barcelona confirmed contract termination with Oriol Romeu

Barcelona and Oriol Romeu have reached an agreement to rescind the midfielder’s contract, effective during the current transfer window, the club confirmed in an official statement.
"An agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and first team player Oriol Romeu to cancel his contract with the Club within the timeframe of the transfer market."
The 33-year-old leaves the club after featuring for only 1,434 minutes during his second stint at the Spotify Camp Nou, having initially returned in 2023 on a deal until 2026.
This decision was made to provide the club with additional salary cap space, allowing registrations of younger players like Gerard Martin and others.
Once considered a potential replacement for Sergio Busquets, Romeu struggled to cement a regular starting position under both Xavi Hernandez and Hansi Flick.
Now a free agent, Romeu faces uncertainty over his next move, with possible opportunities outside La Liga or in lesser leagues as he approaches the later stages of his career.
