Barcelona aim to repeat the 100-point mark

Barcelona could achieve something that only the best clubs in the world can achieve this season. The 'Cules' are looking forward to reaching 100 points in the La Liga standings, a figure they have only reached once in their history.
Now that the first half of the season has finished and the first 19 matches have been played, Barca have 50 points out of a possible 57, with an extraordinary record of 16 wins, two draws and just one defeat. In other words, Xavi Hernández's side have only dropped seven points so far this season and have already said goodbye to the first half of the season as January champions.
But it is not the first time that the 'Cules' have finished the first half of the season with 50 points. Barcelona have achieved this impressive figure on five occasions: the 2017-18 season, when they reached 51 points with Ernesto Valverde on the bench; the 2013-14 campaign, when they took 50 points under Tata Martino; the 2012-13 season, when the Catalans reached 55 points under Tito Vilanova - their first and only 100-point Liga -; 2010-11, when they took 52 points under Pep Guardiola; and 2008-09, also under Pep, when they reached 50 points.
However, the Catalan giants are not the only team to have achieved the 100-point milestone. In fact, this feat has only happened on two occasions: in the aforementioned 2012-13 season for Barcelona and in the 2011-12 campaign for Real Madrid. The 'Merengues' achieved it with Jose Mourinho on the bench.
