Making the most of the almost-two month break because of the Qatar World Cup, Barcelona have given the go-ahead on the remodelling work at the Spotify Camp Nou. What is more, the club have started with the partial demolishing of the third tier of seating, those behind the south goal, which will affect 3,782 seats.
Just as planned, this first phase of works will finish on the 30th December, a day before the derby against Espanyol. The scoreboard has already been taken down and so have the seats in the area, in order to make the area available for works.
These reparations will cost a maximum of €4.6 million, which will be added to the bill signed last summer. This iniciative will give them time ahead of the new construction, which is planned for the 2023-24 season.
Out of all the seats affected, 3,182 are of club members, who have been relocated to similar areas of they have been offered a temporary extension to pay for their membership. The other 1,215 people will now go from having a covered seat to a non-covered one.
