Barca prodigy Lamine Yamal chooses his national team

Lamine Yamal has seen his name plastered all over headlines at just 16 years old. The Barca academy graduate has already made two starts with the first team and has proven himself key to Xavi Hernandez.
Most recently, he assisted Barcelona's second goal against Villarreal in their seven-goal thriller at La Mestalla, as well as hitting the woodwork on two shots.
Stellar performances like his have already begun to open the door for his path to the Spanish National Team, even at his young age, but he has to make a choice. With a father hailing from Morocco, Yamal could represent the Atlas Lions or Spain's 'La Roja', as he has done in the youth ranks.
'Sport' report that the young star held meetings with Morocco coach Walid Regragui, as well as with representatives from the Spanish football federation and ultimately decided he would stick with the Spanish team, headed by Luis de la Fuente.
The same outlet reports that he could even be listed as part of the squad in September that will face Georgia and Cyprus in qualifiers for Euro 2024 - making him the youngest player to debut with Spain.
