Australia withdraws bid for World Cup 2034, Saudi Arabia rejoices

Saudi Arabia's appeal has grown considerably in recent months with the arrival of top players in its league, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez.

The Saudi Arabian Football Association is keen to make its mark on world football and has declared that it is a candidate to host the 2034 World Cup.

Australia, which was also bidding to host football's greatest competition, finally threw in the towel on Tuesday:

"We have considered whether to submit a bid to host the FIFA™ World Cup and - after taking all factors into consideration - have reached the conclusion not to do so for the 2034 competition," reads the statement in the Australian Football Association.

An announcement that does the business of Saudi Arabia, the last candidate and future host of the 2034 edition.
