Australia must do better in attacking areas to beat Denmark - Beck

Former Middlesbrough forward Beck was part of Denmark's famous generation of players during the 1990's, which included the Laudrup brothers and ex-Man Utd goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.

Since retiring, the Dane has gone in to player management, with some of current clients including Brighton goalkeeper Matt Ryan playing for the Soceroos.

Speaking of Australia's first match, which they lost 2-1 to France in a tight game, Beck said:

“Australia did well, they did themselves proud.

“I think they defended very well. I would have liked to see them throw more at them, playing a little bit more forward. Be a little bit more confident on the ball itself. But defensively they were very safe, very strong and France just didn’t find any kind of ideas to unlock that defence.”

Turning his attention to the Danish team, who managed to overcome Peru in a 1-0 win, the ex-forward believes that despite the team facing a tough game against the South American side, it showed great quality for them to take the only real chance they had.

In the upcoming game, both team's offensive units will need to improve to try and get a victory. In particular, Beck highlights fellow striker Tom Rogic as the key to this for the Aussies.

"They need to find a way to find Rogic more. Rogic wasn’t really in the [France] game. I think that was a problem for the team because he should be the link between the midfield and the strikers. The fact he wasn’t in the game meant the strikers never really got any balls, so I think that’s the key to their game offensively, to get Rogic more into the game," he concluded.
