Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta left several interesting quotes in his interview with 'Marca' in which he talked about last season and even some transfer market rumours.
Arsenal, despite having had one of their best seasons in recent years and having spent months at the top of the Premier League, were eventually pipped to the domestic title by Manchester City due to a series of stumbles by the Gunners.
The Spaniard was asked if he ever saw himself winning the Premier League with the Emirates Stadium side, to which he replied: "In many moments. The team gave me arguments and we had a connection with the people. People believed in it. But when we started to get injuries, I felt it was going to cost us.
"The level of demand could not be maintained. If you want to win the Premier League against City, you have to get to April-May with all the players available and at their best. And we, because of injuries, didn't get there," he added.
In addition, the Spanish coach explained what his team lacked to lift the coveted trophy: "A lot of things. We were penalised by those three draws we had in a row [Pool, West Ham and Soton], and all the misfortunes that happened [two comebacks from two goals down]. There were three or four injuries to important players and from then on, everything got complicated.
"When we had the full team, we were consistent. As soon as problems came, it wasn't enough for us. And then our opponent was the best team in the world; the best squad in the world and the best coach in the world," Arteta concluded.
