Arsenal raise Thomas Lemar bid to £40m

Arsene Wenger is looking to get back in the Champions League next season, and to do so he is determined to build a solid squad. Having just confirmed the signing of Lacazette, they have returned with an improved offer for Monaco's Thomas Lemar.
Undeterred by the French club's refusal to accept their initial £30 million approach, the Gunners have upped their bid to £40 million.
The 21-year-old midfielder, however, still has three years remaining on his contract at Monaco, and the club have stated their unwillingness to sell. Wenger will test their resolve as he attempts to bring in one of his main targets this summer.
