Araujo wants to play but Xavi wants to err on the side of caution

The next few hours will determine whether or not Araujo will be included in Barca's squad for their next match against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Sunday. 'AS' informs that the the Uruguayan wants to play.

However, the club doctors at Barcelona would rather he does not play against Getafe. Considering the type of head trauma he suffered during the last match against Celta on Tuesday, the usual amount of recovery time required is a minimum of five days. 

The player is due to notify the Barca coaching staff of his status. It will be down to Xavi and his team to decide whether or not Araujo will be given any minutes at the Coliseum. Should the Uruguayan not be fit to play, Xavi will have a serious problem regarding the defense.

Pique is not available, as he is sidelined for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Eric Garcia has just undergone surgery on his right thumb and is suspended for the fixture.

Defenders from the youth team could prove key in this weekend's fixture: Mika Mármol, Carevic, Álvaro Sanz, Jandro Orellana and Alejandro Balde. Xavi will also be without Sergi Roberto, Dest, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Jordi Alba for the visit to Getafe.
