Antunes hits out at referees after stonewall penalty not given

Getafe were very angry with the referee Eduardo Prieto Iglesias as they left the Anoeta after a controversial 2-1 loss at Real Sociedad. The referee did not give a stonewall penalty to Getafe after Rulli brought down Jaime Mata. The VAR, who buzzed in to give Real Sociedad a penalty earlier after Mikel Merino, inexplicably remained silent and did not tell the referee to go to the pitchside monitor. 

Antunes, who saw the match at home as he is still injured, let off steam on Instagram. "Disgraceful, La Liga. That's twice now (Mata was not given a stonewall penalty at Athletic Bilbao earlier in the season)", he said in a story in which you could see the incident between Rulli and Mata. In addition, you could hear the Portuguese shout: "Disgrace!"

That was not the end of Antunes' anger. Minutes later, the defender uploaded a publication in which he asked for the referees to be banned, together with the Getafe club crest.

"It's time to ban referees as well because they make mistakes and stay in La Liga. The players and teams are those which suffer. They need to be more professional, show us more respect in what they call the greatest league in the world. I know that many don't want Getafe in the Champions League then they should just put who they want there and then end the league. RESPECT guys, RESPECT," he wrote.
