Francisco Javier Atienza Valverde, known as 'Pichu' Atienza, was arrested this Tuesday for his supposed link with the 'Oikos case', the plot of alleged game fixing that was uncovered at the end of last May.
According to 'Heraldo de Aragon' and as several medias have previously confirmed, the arrest of the Real Zaragoza player took place before the team's training session.
Zaragoza were duly informed of the 29-year-old's arrest, who is serving his first season in La Romareda.
Previously, Atienza passed through Reus, Hercules, Huesca, Sevilla Atlético and the youth categories of Atletico Madrid.
This operation led to the arrest of Raúl Bravo, Carlos Aranda, Íñigo López and Borja Fernández, among others, as alleged participants in football match-fixing matters and their subsequent benefit in sports betting.
