Fernandinho gave an interview in Brazil which talked about Pep Guardiola and he also revealed a suggestion he made to the coach. "I asked him to put me as a striker, but he didn't want me to."
Fernandinho, one of Man City's veterans, spoke at length for the 'Blog de Nadja' of 'Globoesporte'. In an in-depth review, he left some curious things about his coach.
When asked about how he is compared to Klopp, the Brazilian revealed that Guardiola is obsessed with work, with playing the ball well, how you start the game, how you end it. We can say that the ball is our eternal girlfriend because we have to treat it with affection."
And it seems like the Catalan's philosophy has made Fernandinho think about him. "Nowadays, in many championships, we see several teams who do not play well as they prefer a positive result. Football is much more than that," he said.
Another curious confession was the request that he made to Guardiola after he became a central defender. "I asked him to put me a striker, but he didn't want to. I didn't ask for it, but I gave him the option. I said that the day he needs me to do it, I'm there. I'm fine mentally. I finish well, simply I'm not as quick as the men up top," he confessed.
