Switzerland booked their place in next summer's World Cup with a stalemate in Basel, but Northern Ireland came close to taking the game to extra-time after a woeful mistake by Sommer.

The Swiss goalkeeper will be eternally grateful to Ricardo Rodriguez after the left-back cleared what looked to be Northern Ireland's goal off the line.

The goal would have levelled the tie and taken the game to extra-time, but Rodriguez saved the day after Sommer was left flapping in the air and Evans headed towards goal.
