West Brom have reportedly held talks with Alan Pardew and they close in on appointing a new manager.

The Baggies are looking for a new manager after sacking Tony Pulis on Monday following a run of just two victories in 21 games, and former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is the favourite to take over at the Hawthorns.

The 56-year-old is a former team-mate of West Brom technical director Nick Hammond, and according to 'BBC Sport' he met with the club's chief executive John Williams late last week, however a firm decision is yet to be made.

West Brom would be the sixth Premier League club Pardew has taken charge of, having had spells in the dugout at West Ham, Charlton, Southampton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace previously. He has been out of a job since being dismissed by Palace in December 2016, after a poor run of form.

It is also understood that former West Ham boss Slaven bilic turned down the chance to speak to West Brom about the vacancy.

Gary Megson will take temporary charge for Saturday's Premier League game at Tottenham.
