Timo Werner confessed in an interview with Chelsea's official media channels that he decided to join them because of Frank Lampard. The manager presented his style of play to the German and also what role he would have in it. That persuaded Werner to put pen to paper.
Werner went to Chelsea because of Lampard. He himself said that in an interview with the club. He has now completed his first training session as a Chelsea player and he is now working with a coach he praised in his comments.
"Lampard was the main reason. We talked a lot about the system, how he wants to play and sees me playing. He's a really nice man. He does not only tell me what he expects of me as a player, but also as a person," he said.
"He knows me now a little bit better, things are going great between us and I'm happy to be here." he added. He also praised the club. "it was for me a dream which came true because Chelsea is a very big club."
"I know the players from when they won the Champions League like Drogba, my new manager Frank Lampard and Petr Cech. It is like a little dream for me but I want to become, not a same player like them, I want to be part of a new era here so I will play to try to give my best," the former Leipzig man concluded.
