WATCH: Assistant referee attacked by fan
The Turkish Super Lig match between Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor was abandoned on Sunday following the assault of a referee.
Trabzonspor were losing 4-0 to Fenerbahce when the incident took place in the Turkish Super Lig match on Sunday.
Fans had been throwing objects on to the field, but then one fan decided to go one step further, and jumped on to the pitch and pushed the official, Volkan Bayarslan, to the ground. He then proceeded to punch Bayarslan while he was on the ground before stewards had to pull him away.
The game was immediately called off with both sets of players and officials leaving the pitch.
