Vinicius Jr's magic takes Real back to the top

Vinicius Jr scored twice to secure an important away win against ten-men Elche for Real Madrid to join Real Sociedad at the top of the table, in a game where LaLiga's top scorer and assister, Karim Benzema sat out. Pere Milla scored a late goal for the home team.

Real Madrid won and reclaimed the top spot in LaLiga table level on points with Real Sociedad. Ancelotti made many changes to his starting XI and surprised many when he started Mariano and Marcelo. 'Los Blancos' secured the win but struggled during the final minutes of the game following Pere Milla's 86th-minute goal. 

Real Madrid and Elche played an even and exciting game where both teams had multiple chances as the match remained open for both teams until the last minute. Real Madrid was able to control some moments of the game but failed to dominate against the recently promoted side.

The stats show how equal the game was. Ancelotti's side had 17 attempts to the 13 Elche had.

Rodrygo had the first chance of the game, later on, the Brazilian winger was subbed off the game on the 17th minute as he got injured, Asensio was picked ahead of Eden Hazard to come in for the Brazilian attacker.

Vinicius Jr opened the scoring for 'Los Blancos' after picking up Mariano's brilliant backheel layoff following a turnover in midfield and the 21-year-old found the net with ease. 

Mariano wanted to prove his doubters wrong and show everyone why Madrid signed him back in 2018. Mariano sat and went past former Real Madrid goalkeeper, Kiko Casilla, but the angle got too tight as he hit the side of the net. 

Elche was down to ten players midway in the second half after Raul Guti got a second yellow for a strong tackle on Toni Kroos. 

With 15 minutes to go, Luka Modric's delightful pass reached Vinicius Jr, who chipped Casilla to complete his brace. 

Real Madrid's defensive error led to Elche putting one behind with five minutes to go, as Pere Milla scored for the home team.

Madrid reclaims the top spot on the table level on 24 points with Real Sociedad. Ancelotti's side  will host Shakhtar Donetsk next on Wednesday 3rd November in the Champions League.
